Curves of the human body

Villa Mayfair
The basis of the project was a house in the neighbourhood of Sant Gervasi, Villa Mayfair. A space that had two underground floors that could be accessed from an adjoining street independent of the main entrance, which had been used as an exhibition hall. This Villa also had three upper floors that were part of the house and it was where they would intervene. Based on this basis the objective of the project was to design a space for a group of creative, at least 12 people, with the premise that they lived and worked here during their stay in the city for an undefined time with the condition of exhibiting their works in the exhibition hall that I mentioned above.
To do this, we analysed who would live and work in this space and what they would need to complete this end. Bearing this in mind, we are inspired by the natural forms generated by the human being in motion in order to determine the best distribution and adequate furniture for these creatives. With this we designed a space on the first floor, a common space with a single element, the platforms at different heights, where all kinds of activities could be carried out depending on the needs of each one and a relationship was created between the interior space and the outside. And the other two spaces on the upper floors, were more private, destined mainly to sleep, rest or work isolated from the first floor and the bathroom and laundry area. These two spaces are distributed from cylindrical modules, taking into account the reference of the Play Boy bed, and spaces of appropriation that created a flow of circulation through them with natural forms in which we had been inspired. On the outside we intervene with two cylindrical modules of larger dimensions where there was only one element, a “chill out” bed with the idea that these creatives relax, socialize and work in a calmer way.
